Hello everyone!
I’ve always been fascinated by how people gravitate toward certain types of clothing, even when trends suggest something else entirely. Back in my days working at Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, I noticed an interesting pattern among designers. It seemed like most of us naturally leaned toward either knits or wovens. I was definitely on the woven side of things, and my partner focused primarily on knits. While I could handle designing both, there was no denying that wovens were where my heart truly lay.
But here’s the thing—this preference wasn’t just limited to our professional work. We all found ourselves wearing more of one type than the other, regardless of what was “in†at any given moment. For me, it was clear that I favored tailored pieces like button-downs, trousers, and blazers. Even in my personal wardrobe, I was drawn to sharp silhouettes and structured designs. My counterpart, though she excelled at knitting, still appreciated wovens in her own way, even if her personal style leaned more casual.
This got me thinking—are you more of a knit person or a woven person? Do you find yourself constantly reaching for stretchy tees and cozy cardigans, or do you prefer crisp cottons and tailored fabrics? Maybe you’re somewhere in between, enjoying both equally. Personally, I’ve realized that while I love wearing wovens, I actually enjoy sewing knits more. There’s something incredibly satisfying about creating something soft and stretchy from scratch.
It’s funny how these preferences can vary so widely. Some people live for the comfort of knits, while others can’t get enough of the clean lines and versatility of woven fabrics. And then there are those who switch between the two depending on their mood or occasion. What’s your story?
Take a look at this photo—I think it captures the essence of both styles quite beautifully. Let me know what resonates with you!

I’d love to hear your thoughts! Whether you’re a die-hard knit enthusiast, a staunch advocate for wovens, or a mix of both, share your experiences in the comments below. Fashion is such a personal journey, and understanding our individual preferences helps deepen our connection to what we wear.
Stay stylish, stay true to yourself!
