On September 17th, the "Bamboo Weaving Preparation Exhibition" was successfully held at the National Archaeological Museum of Malta. This cultural event served as a vibrant platform to showcase and promote Chinese traditional folk culture and art, while also deepening the friendly ties between China and Malta. The exhibition not only highlighted the beauty of bamboo craftsmanship but also emphasized the perseverance and resilience that are deeply rooted in Chinese culture.
The event was jointly organized by the Malta Chinese Cultural Center and the Malta Heritage Committee. Attendees included prominent figures such as Mario De Marco, State Secretary for Tourism, Environment, and Culture Affairs; Prime Minister of Malta, Ms. Isabel Vella, Commissioner of Heritage; Kenneth Gambin, Chief Museum Director; Chinese Ambassador to Malta Zhang Keyuan; Gu Hongxing, Director of the Chinese Cultural Center; and many other guests from various sectors of society.
Through this exhibition, the unique qualities of bamboo in China—its strength, flexibility, and enduring nature—were showcased alongside the tenacity of grass and the rich, often overlooked traditions of Chinese weaving. The Maltese audience gained a deeper appreciation of the artistry and cultural significance behind Chinese weaving techniques. In addition, the event further strengthened the ongoing exchanges in political, economic, and cultural fields between China and Malta, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.
