Ralph Lauren's "American Classic"

Today's RALPH LAUREN product line is growing. Its clothing brands include: POLO BY RALPH LAUREN (menswear), RALPH LAUREN (women's wear), Double RL (informal clothing), RALPH LAUREN CLASSICS (second-tier brands, cheaper work clothes, and leisure Pack) and POLO GOLF (Golf Women) and other brand lines.

Mentioning simple, comfortable, and personalized POLOT shirts, many people think of Ralph Lauren, one of the top three fashion designers in the United States, and the RALPH LAUREN brand that the fashion industry has called "American Classics."

Ralph Lauren, the brand's creator and designer, said: “What I want to show is the American style, which is the feeling of comfort and freedom.” He designed the POLOT shirt to be less restrictive than the traditional shirt, rather than the collarless T-shirt. A bit more rigorous and personality. This kind of T-shirt named after polo shows a comfortable and laid-back American upper class social life - originating from the American historical traditions, but close to life, conveying the concept of simple life with high quality without excessive luxury.

For many years, the basic style of POLOT shirts has not changed, and only the rich colors are used to adapt to different eras. Although RALPH LAUREN's simple, comfortable, and personalized branding style is well established, the brand's original form was inspired by his inspiration for the initial design of the tie.

Ralph Lauren was born in 1939 in Brooks, New York. Like his peers, Lauren is also deeply interested in basketball and baseball, and he has a lot of admiration for sports stars. However, in terms of clothing, he showed an extraordinary talent early on. When he was a middle school student, he tried to combine military uniforms and jeans to express his personal feelings.

In the 1950s, Ralph Lauren entered the City College of New York to study business science. From 1964 to 1966, he began to sell ties to the Boston-based Liverpool-based tie-making company. In the process of tying a tie, Lauren noticed that the clothes of the 1960s seemed to have been lethargic: the tie had only the same color and style—dark and long. Looking back at the beginning, he said: “Every time I visit a customer, the customer always tells me: 'The one you want to wear.' I clearly realized: I am not a fashion designer, but I show Awareness of the times."

With this "keep up with the consciousness of the times," Lauren designed the first "wake up fashion tie" came out. This "simple and comfortable" new tie was named POLO, which is twice the bandwidth of the traditional collar, twice the color, and twice the price, but it is still selling well. This extraordinary wide tie gave a strong earthquake to the fashion industry at that time, and the success of the POLO tie also laid a solid foundation for Lauren's future achievements.

In 1968, Ralph Lauren set up a menswear company and continued to use the brand name “POLO”. Lauren integrated western style, Indian culture and past Hollywood feelings in the style of clothing, advocating a “simple and comfortable” fashion appeal, whether it was a formal dress or Casual wear is filled with a modern, noble temperament that is ideal for men with status and status.

Lauren said in his essay that he was trying to find a way out: "My design goal is to complete a 'reality that is imaginable', it must be part of the life form, and it must be personalized at any time." At the same time, he also revealed his design philosophy that is to fully integrate fantasy, romance, innovation and classical elements. Lauren apparel was first accepted by the US campus intellectuals once it was launched, and in a short period of time it won the favor of the upper class and eventually developed into a world-renowned daily men's clothing.
