Recently, the sales of polyester/spandex fabrics in the traditional markets of China Textile City have been proceeding smoothly. Spot transactions of polyester and spandex fabrics—primarily made from polyester FDY, DTY, and POY with spandex blends—have seen a slight increase. Orders have also shown some growth, with ammonia stretch fabric experiencing a steady rise in daily deliveries. In recent days, the spring season has brought a local uptick in the polyester/spandex stretch fabric market, with transactions gradually improving.
Polyester stretch fabrics, including FDY four-way shells, DTY four-way shells, and hair-feel composite wire four-way shells, as well as polyester interwoven or mixed four-way fabrics, are in higher demand. Due to increased gray cloth output from upstream suppliers, the spot market has seen more stock available. However, weaving factories continue to face labor shortages, resulting in lower production rates and rising gray cloth prices. Despite this, downstream apparel manufacturers have started placing more orders, driven by the seasonal demand for elastic fabrics.
This increased demand has attracted bulk purchases from counterpart merchants, leading to a steady rise in both spot cash transactions and batch volumes. The volume of spring fabric orders has also grown compared to previous periods. In recent days, the sales of spring polyester/spandex stretch fabrics have picked up locally, with women’s trousers fabrics being particularly popular. Overall, the transaction volume of polyester/spandex fabrics remains smooth, showing an upward trend in market activity.
In terms of fashion trends, spring stretch fabrics featuring cationic four-way stretch blends and updated weaving styles have gained popularity. New fabric combinations, such as 200D cationic DTY paired with 108D triangular-profiled silk and 40D spandex for four-way elasticity, as well as 32S rayon combined with 300D cationic DTY and 40D spandex for a projectile effect, have been well-received. Additionally, 100D DTY low-projectile black yarn combined with 200D triangular exotic FDY network yarn for four-way projectile fabric have also seen strong interest. These new fabrics offer slightly better luster and quality compared to similar products, making them highly appealing to customers.
