Jade industry terminology

The development, trading and evaluation of jadeites have formed some common sayings or jargon in the long historical evolution, which is still widely used today. However, the outsiders suddenly can't figure it out. The following is a preliminary introduction to the widely used sayings or jargon.

(a) ç¿¡: the red and yellow parts of the jade.

There may be two reasons for its coloration: one is due to the trace element of manganese contained in the original jadeite ore, which is usually purple-red; the second is due to the fact that the iron in the jadeite is turned into iron oxide during the weathering process. (Fe2O3), so that all or part of the jade is red or yellow. Emerald-containing jade is generally more valuable.

(2) Cui: refers to the green part of the jade.

The green color is due to the presence of trace amounts of chromium and iron. Green is the treasure of jade, and it has a large proportion in determining its economic value.

(3) 椿: refers to the blue-violet part of the jade.

Also known as violet, it is a popular color variety.

(4) 癣: refers to the black part of the jade.

Mainly due to carbon or magnetite in jadeite.

(5) 绺: refers to the stone pattern in the jade.

Most of it is produced by the movement of the earth's crust and is also characteristic of natural jade.

(6) Cui nature: also known as fly wings, refers to the silky flash effect produced by the reflection of light from the cleavage surface of the jadeite mineral.

Cui is the unique characteristic of jade.

(7) Pit:

This is a vague concept that originated from the mining of pits and mines, which is described in the literature as the time when the jade is buried underground.

(8) Stone flower: refers to the white patches that are densely packed together in the jade.

Hong Kong people call it the "rice meal" to take its image of dry rice.

(9) Bringing color:

Refers to a jade material or finished product with both green and purple colors.

(10) Boxwood Green:

Refers to a jade material or finished product with both green and yellow colors.

(11) Fu Lushou: Also called: "Taoyuan Sanjieyi".

It refers to the appearance of red, green, purple or blue color on a jade raw material or finished product. The jadeite with this feature is rare and is loved by experts. Therefore, there are many frauds, so choose carefully.
